Our clients are seeking a live-in Gardener to work at their prestigious site in Horsham, West Sussex. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small professional team and expand your own experience.

The candidate will be responsible for growing and cultivating all types of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs, and lawns, and should be passionate about nature and the environment.
They should enjoy a practical, outdoors lifestyle and be able to take instruction from the principals and bring creativity. This is very much a hands-on position working with a small team dedicated to maintaining the Estate to the best of its condition.

Duties include:

  • Maintaining site landscaping
  • Maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, turf, and irrigation
  • Treating/fertilising lawn, trees, flowers and shrubs, and spreading mulch
  • Trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs, and weeding
  • Identifying and controlling disease on the field and lawns
  • Irrigating/aerating/scarifying/verticutting/fertilising the field and lawns
  • Preparing machinery for use
  • Operating machinery
  • Preparing machinery for storage
  • Arranging the maintenance of all machinery
  • Utilising insecticides, fertilisers, and chemical sprays where appropriate to treat diseases
  • Keeping grounds tidy and litter free
  • Conducting basic irrigation audits and performing basic irrigation repairs
  • Removing snow/leaves by using a shovel or snow blower
  • Maintaining garden furniture
  • General garden maintenance
  • Maintain the cleanliness of property's outside spaces such as sidewalks, entrances etc
  • Has sound judgement, and be able to handle multi-tasking jobs
  • Should communicate efficiently with wide range of people
  • Should be calm and act wisely in hard times and under stress
  • Should be able to respond to some after-hours calls promptly and act efficiently
  • Sometimes attend family premises after hours and/or at weekends to carry out work
  • Other duties related to property maintenance
  • Support with cleaning when needed
  • During family visit to the residence, extra hours are needed and after-hours calls are expected in urgent situations related to work
  • Reports – Health and Safety and maintenance; daily report to London Office
  • Cover other team members during their holidays and days off

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Risk Assessments at work
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • MS Office user
  • Flexibility to Travel – London and Horsham
  • Entry of CAFM system (training will be provided)
  • Good business services skills to make decisions independently (when required) and offer sound advice to principal/senior management
  • Receive direct instruction solely from the Director’s Office in Doha. Any other instructions are to be verified with Doha Office before implementation
  • Being part of a small team to help others and utilize resources effectively
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to drive and use some equipment (on site) and to do basic maintenance for them
  • Good communication skills written and verbal
  • Must be able to multitask effectively and develop efficient work processes and systems
  • Attend to the principal’s and his family request when visiting the Estate. Car shall be provided
  • Sometimes require attendance to farm office after hours and/or weekends
  • Able to respond to some after-hours calls promptly and act efficiently
  • Well-presented and active person

Accommodation: A 2-bedroom property with all bills included
Location: Horsham and occasionally if needed in London

Employment: Contract - yearly

Expected Salary: £28,000-£30,000 DOE

Vehicle and Petrol: Car usage for work related issues only and petrol budget up to maximum limit of £180 every 2 weeks.
