Our client, with a residence in Central London, is seeking a hands-on Live-out Head Housekeeper who would be willing to travel with the family.

Duties include:

• Supervising Housekeeping team of 5
• Checking all areas of the main house, garages, mews houses, and staff areas
• Reporting any maintenance issues to House Manager
• Supervising the Laundress with washing, ironing, or steaming and taking clothes, shoes etc to dry cleaners, cobblers
• Looking after furniture, art, china, collectibles, organising silver/gold/brass polishing and crystal
• Checking all lights in the garden and house and replace bulbs
• Organising rubbish and recycling and liaising with House Manager for removal of larger items
• Keeping constant supply of household essentials (water, coffee etc) and cleaning materials
• Turning on lights, lighting candles and lanterns in garden and house in the evenings
• Arranging magazines, newspapers, and flowers as and when requested
• Preparing for arrival of visitors and various needs
• Assisting with luggage upon arrival, helping with unpacking and packing, and making guests feel welcome with introductions, tours etc
• Shopping as required by Family, Chef, or anyone else in the organisation and any other ad hoc errands requested
• Locking up the house at the end of evenings if no-one is in, setting of alarms etc
• Daily visits when family are not there to check maintenance and security
• Keeping temperature constant for arrival of family and guests for duration of the visit
• Preparing of light snacks and meals if Chef is not available
• Helping Nanny with babysitting when required, potentially out of hours
• Serving the Family and guests when necessary
• Covering Butler on his/her days off

Candidate requirements:

• Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to any task in front of you
• Attention to detail is paramount
• Must have hands-on experience inside formal households and managerial experience
• Driving licence preferable
• Must be able to travel with a Family
• Must have strong communication skills, be self-motivated and proactive
• Must be flexible working in the evenings and weekends when required

Working Days: 5 days per week (days off on a rota – weekends off rotating with the Butler/Lady’s Maid)

Working Hours: 9.00am–6.00pm (12.00pm–9.00pm when covering the Butler)

Salary: £55,000 gross per annum
