A well-established entrepreneurial family based in Central Europe is seeking a trustworthy Butler with extended experience and knowledge - a Butler who is passionate about his work, and has excellent management skills.

The main focus will be the principal's work-life balance. The Butler has to create and maintain an organisational structure, and be able to manage and/or brief multiple other staff members such as the Driver, Chef, Housekeeper, Personal Assistant, and other contractors.

The principal travels regularly for business and also private (as the principal owns a property in Germany too), and the Butler is expected to join them.

Accommodation will be provided, as this is a live-in position.

Duties include:

• Being responsible for all house management & housekeeping duties: building and maintaining a structure, and managing the Housekeeper regarding cleaning; being responsible for the silverware, turndown service at night, receiving guests, making appointments regarding maintenance, running errands, mail-post delivery & fetching, and grocery shopping
• You will be the main contact point for the Personal Assistant too
• Budgeting and finances: being able to create and manage the budget of the household, monitoring daily expenses, and preparing monthly budgets
• Table management: includes setting tables and serving meals, serving skills, service styles, table manners, making coffee and wines, creating menus (in collaboration with the Chef), and special celebrations
• Laundry and Wardrobe management: knowledge of linens and fine fabric care, clothing maintenance, ironing & pressing, dry-cleaning, and also ordering clothes and product knowledge
• Cooking: being able to create a structure and managing the kitchen staff to provide (in addition to the Chef) breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events (High Tea or BBQ), knowledge of hygiene, speed cuisine, and quality control
• Valeting skills: purchasing and taking care of clothing and shoes, maintaining inventories, and packing and unpacking suitcases
• Fleet maintenance: driving and managing the maintenance of the cars and fuels in absence of the Driver
• Knowledge of etiquette & protocol
• Being a listening ear and right hand of the principal at all times

Candidate requirement:

• Experience and knowledge of the profession of a Butler
• Experience in working within a private household
• Able to manage and brief all other staff members
• A friendly and calm character, but always having a professional attitude
• Able to ‘read the room’ and support the healthy (and busy) lifestyle of the principal
• A person wishing to invest in a long-term relationship
• English is preferred

Working Hours and Days: Full-Time position, 5 days a week
Accommodation: Live-in - accommodation provided with private room/bath
