Our client, who own a substantial historical residence in Paris, are looking to employ a live-in Domestic Couple - Cook/Butler (separate apartment within walking distance of the main residence will be provided).  The Principals are a young professional couple who both work and have two children aged 8 and 4 years old.  The house is fully staffed but they wish to have a positive thinking, energetic Couple who are highly experienced with impeccable skills to fulfil this role.

The duties would be:

Highly Experienced Cook

  • To prepare breakfast (for 2), a light lunch if required, and an evening meal on occasions.
  • The couple dine out regularly during the week but do entertain at weekends.
  • Numbers of guests rarely go above 8, and they like beautifully presented nouvelle cuisine.
  • When not entertaining at weekends, the family enjoy a roast chicken and potatoes, so the Cook must be prepared to step up to a high level of cooking when required for more formal dinners but also enjoy cooking simple nutritious family food too.
  • The Cook will also be required to assist in the laundry of table napkins and dining cloths, and be prepared to be hands-on in some aspect of housekeeping, flower arranging etc.

  • The duties will be varied.
  • A very high standard of service for more formal dinners is required and a good understanding and knowledge of the finer touches when serving drinks and 'snacks'.
  • During the day, you will be assisting clearing the walkways outside, washing two of the cars, and attending to little tasks and chores that need to be done within the residence as well as preparing the Principal's closet.

Excellent service is required, however this is a formal / 'informal' household and one in which staff stay long term as they are greatly appreciated.  It is important you take pride in your work, are attentive to the finer details and have a great attitude - they like a 'happy' household.

The family speak both French and English - ideally you should be able to speak some French as well as excellent English.

Days of work:  5 days per week (2 days off during the week)

Hours of work:  7.00am start with a break from 2.00pm-6.00pm, returning at 6.00pm to prepare and serve dinner if the Principals are in residence.

Salary:  The Principals are open to salary expectation so please state yours when applying for this role.
