An informal family of 2 internationally orientated adults (44 and 45 years old, Dutch/German) with 4 children, are requiring a Live-in Domestic Couple/Property Management Couple, to join them at their beautiful residence in Barcelona, Spain.

The family live in Sarria, Barcelona, surrounded with tranquillity/natural beauty in the Natural Park overlooking the whole city towards the Mediterranean Sea, whilst being very well connected to the city by the metro network (5 min walk). Pharmacy, supermarket, grocery and bakery are within 10 minutes’ walk from the residence.

The main residence is a classic mansion in Neocentisme style dated from around 1900s with modern interior and consists of three floors of about 150m2 each. All rooms have easy cleaning, stone floors. In the main house there are 5 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms.

Besides the main house there is a separate studio for guests, and an old water mill which is divided into an apartment for the Domestic Couple with their own entrance and little garden, and a studio for two young professionals on the other side with their own entrance.

Duties required – not exhaustive:

Housekeeper

  • Running a household, including cleaning, mopping, dusting, tidying, laundry / ironing, bedlinen, making beds
  • Stocking the kitchen and the house with household items
  • Cooking and eating balanced meals and proper quality food is an important element within the family. The cook does not have to have restaurant chef qualities, but it is of paramount importance that he or she enjoys cooking as a second nature
  • The cook should work clean, and solid. Cooking is needed for the breakfast which takes place at 07:45 and which usually is eggs or porridge for the lady and the children
  • The employer enjoys a warm, light meal for lunch when they are not outdoors, and the kids like a snack when coming home from school at 16:15
  • For dinner, several dishes are available to be prepared and mostly consists of fish, meat once a week, and vegetables
  • Depending on the division between the couple team, the Handyperson could be responsible for (part of) the daily cooking.

Handyperson

  • Conducting DIY / Handyman works and working with construction tools and equipment.
  • Maintaining a beautiful garden throughout the seasons of the year, including knowledge of the irrigation system
  • Knowledge and experience working with garden tools and machinery
  • Cutting and pruning, maintaining a vegetable and fruit garden
  • Taking care of the animals, including 4 chickens
  • Maintaining the on-property roads, walk-paths, parking areas, terraces, windows and facades of the dwellings.
  • Responsibility for the pool maintenance as well as the chill-out and gym house.
  • Take out weekly garbage,
  • At times drive the children to after school activities
  • Do weekly grocery shopping in a timely manner
  • Valeting of the vehicles
  • Knowledge of I.T/security systems would be desirable
  • Responsible for the proper coordination of service providers and other persons entering the property, as well as receiving postal mail, and delivery packages

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in working for families as a live-in team is required, but most important is a happy attitude towards life, with a proactive and intuitive mindset
  • Both candidates need to have pleasure in conducting their tasks well and strive to perfectionate that what is their domain, namely ensuring a clean, pleasant, and properly working and maintained property
  • The couple must be able to work steady and independently, especially after a start-up period
  • The couple preferably speaks both English and Spanish, or in case of English have the desire to learn Spanish in order to conversate with external service providers within a certain time period
  • Due to the residence being set in the hills of Barcelona and there is a certain height difference between the main house and the apartment, the couple are required to be physically fit to walk stairs and engage in an active lifestyle.
  • A driver’s license required and also feel comfortable with driving a large SUV
  • Non or very light smokers at home
  • One pet allowed, to be held close to their own apartment

Accommodation:

The apartment for the couple (+/-100m2) is newly renovated, it is private and independent, and is located about 40 meters from the main house. It has a new open kitchen with oven and dishwasher, a bathroom with rain shower, 2 bedrooms and a light and spacious living room, TV, and terrace/small private garden.

Working hours:

Monday - Friday
Indoor hours: 07:00 - 14:00, and 16:00 - 20:30 / 21:00
Outdoor hours: 09:00- 14:00 and 16:00-19:00

The Spanish branch holiday schedule will be followed.

The couple may sporadically be required to join the family at their weekend home in the Costa Brava. The couple will have their own quarters.

Salary

The combined gross salary range is between €50,000 and €60,000 gross, depending on skills and profile. It is also imaginable to work with a growth / bonus salary formula, where excellence is rewarded. Taxes and social security costs are expected to be paid by the Domestic Couple from this salary.

All living costs like gas, water, electricity, and internet for the freshly renovated, spacious and private +/- 100m2 apartment will be covered by the employer, as well as job related gasoline expenses when the own car is used.
