Job Title: Groundsman & Housekeeper (Couple Role)

Salary: £37,500 per person, per annum + relocation allowance + accommodation + benefits

Overview

A private family of four (two young children) are seeking an experienced and professional Groundsman and Housekeeper couple to join their small household team in Jersey, Channel Islands. The family employ four staff in total, including a nanny and a nanny groom, and reside on a 40-acre estate comprising formal gardens, equestrian facilities, and farmland. The couple will play an integral role in the day-to-day care of the property, animals, and household operations, while also supporting the family’s ongoing restoration project, due for completion in 2027.
This is a live-in role, with a private two-bedroom apartment provided on site, plus use of shared staff pool cars for local travel.

Key Responsibilities:

Housekeeper

• Maintain a consistently high standard of cleaning, housekeeping, and organisation
• Care for fine furnishings, specialist surfaces, and delicate items using appropriate products
• Manage household laundry, wardrobe organisation, and linen care
• Support family routines and household logistics, ensuring smooth daily operations
• Provide occasional assistance with entertaining and informal service as required

Groundsman

• Oversee the upkeep of 17 acres of equestrian land, 4 acres of formal gardens/woodland, and liaise with the tenant farmer managing the wider estate
• Operate and maintain farm and garden machinery, including tractors, trailers, mowers, hedge trimmers, and other equipment
• Carry out general estate maintenance, including paddock care, fencing, woodland management, and landscaping projects
• Support equestrian requirements in collaboration with the nanny groom
• Assist with estate projects, planting schemes, and the development of new formal gardens
• Apply herbicides/weed control safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Ensure all machinery and vehicles are used safely and maintained to a high standard

Joint Duties

• Care for family pets (5 dogs, 7 cats, 3 horses), ensuring comfort and wellbeing
• Provide input and practical support during the ongoing estate refurbishment, including logistics, storage planning, and operational set-up
• Work collaboratively with the wider household team to ensure smooth running of the estate

Requirements:

• Valid driving licence with experience operating tractors and trailers
• Certificates for operating garden machinery safely (lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, etc.)
• Chainsaw operation certification
• Licensed and certified to apply herbicides/weed killer
• Strong knowledge of horticulture, woodland management, and equestrian grounds care
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible, reliable, and attentive to detail
• Previous experience in a private household, estate, or UHNW environment is essential
• Housekeeper: meticulous attention to detail, knowledge of high-end products, and discretion
• Groundsman: proven experience in estate or farm management; ability to operate machinery; forestry skills desirable
• Both must be animal lovers and comfortable working around dogs, cats, and horses
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive team players with a positive attitude
• A valid UK, Jersey, or EU driving licence is required
• No dependents please
• A pet will be considered

Package:

• Salary: £37,500 per person, per annum
• Relocation allowance
• Live-in accommodation: private 2-bedroom, 1,400 sq ft apartment on site

• 25 days annual holiday
• 5% non-contributory pension
