Job Description: Domestic Couple / Household Staff – Private Chalet

Overview

Our clients are seeking a Domestic Couple, or two experienced individuals, to ensure the smooth daily operation, maintenance, and high standard of service in their main residence — a 9,000 sq. ft. luxury chalet with 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.

The family resides at the chalet for a large part of the year and travels frequently, particularly during the spring, summer, and autumn. Their adult children visit periodically, especially during holidays. The residence also houses two golden retrievers (born 2024) who require attentive care, especially during the family’s absence.

The ideal candidates will have previous private household experience, a strong sense of discretion and professionalism, and the flexibility to accompany the family to their other properties, including in the South of France during the summer season.

Key Responsibilities

Household Management & Maintenance

• Ensure the residence is maintained to an impeccable standard at all times.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties: cleaning, dusting, tidying, laundry, and ironing.
• Care for and maintain fine materials, furnishings, and finishes throughout the chalet.
• Conduct light maintenance and small repair work; coordinate larger tasks with contractors.
• Manage external service providers (gardeners, maintenance teams, etc).
• Maintain vehicles (cleaning, basic checks, coordination of servicing).
• Oversee stocks and inventories of household supplies, food, and beverages.

Service & Hospitality

• Prepare family-style meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
• Provide table service, including setting and serving meals, aperitifs, drinks, and wines.
• Welcome and assist family members, guests, and visitors in a courteous, discreet manner.
• Assist with family events or gatherings as required.

Animal Care

• Provide attentive daily care to two golden retrievers, including walking, feeding, and general well-being.

Driving & Errands

• Conduct regular driving duties for the employers, family, and guests.
• Perform errands and local shopping as requested.
• Confident driving in winter conditions and snow.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in a similar role within a private household or luxury residence.
• Strong teamwork skills – suitable for a couple or two individuals with complementary skills.
• European passport or valid Swiss residency permit required.
• Excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation, and attention to detail.
• Discreet, polite, and professional demeanour.
• Honest, trustworthy, and highly reliable.
• Dog lovers and confident animal handlers.
• Full driver’s license with strong winter driving experience.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel seasonally with the family.
• No dependant children or personal pets.

Employment Terms

• Contract: Permanent, full-time (42 hours/week).
• Days Off: One to two days per week (depending on family presence and activity).
• Overtime: Overtime and missed rest days are compensated during quieter periods.
• Taxes & Insurance: 15–20% income tax (employee responsibility) + 50% health insurance contribution.
• Accommodation: Furnished staff apartment in the chalet’s basement — private entrance, living room with kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom.
• Utilities: Utilities (electricity, water, heating, and housing tax) covered by employer.
• Meals: Not provided, but a food allowance is included.
