Our Clients, two principals with grown up children, are actively searching for an experienced Housekeeper/Cook to start ASAP. This is an informal household with a small household team, including a Housekeeper, PA, Gardener and Estate Manager. A working farm forms part of the Estate so the Housekeeper/Cook must enjoy working in a countryside environment.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Cook who has good knowledge on how to cook healthy and nutritious food. There is a well-stocked vegetable garden, herb garden, orchard with beehives and home reared meat from the farm that will need to be used in the weekly meal plans. You will have the ability to make preserves form the surplus produce. Someone who cares about the province of their ingredients and enjoys using healthy fresh ingredients is desired. Depending on the candidate's skills, the Clients may bring in a Chef when entertaining for a Dinner Party, or if a confident Cook for larger groups of people, then the PA will bring in a second pair of hands to help with the cleaning and service.
As the Housekeeper you will be required to support this beautiful home on a day-to-day basis which includes all hands-on general household duties to a high standard with overall responsibility. Your hands-on duties will include light cleaning, wardrobe management, family laundry (bed linens are laundered off site), shopping and other duties needed to support a family home. You will need to be organised, efficient and enjoy country life.
A cleaner will be employed for two days a week and will work under your directive.
Duties will include:
Cooking for the family when they are in residence
Meal planning and online food shop
Organising and cleaning of kitchen / keeping stock of household supplies
Daily housekeeping tasks changing sheets / bed-making / washing & ironing
Keeping the house clean and tidy
Feeding the cat 5 days per week
Assisting the House Manager on any additional tasks required
The role has a strong emphasis on cooking. When the family are not in residence you will focus more on the housekeeping side of things. You will need to work under your own initiative and have a personality that boasts discretion, loyalty, honesty and a love of animals to fit into this lovely household.
Hours: Split shifts, 8.00am/9.00am-12.00pm/12.30pm, 4.30-8.30pm (8 hours per day), Sunday and Monday off.
Accommodation: 1-bedroom apartment on the estate.
