Our Middle Eastern client is looking for an exceptional Housekeeper to oversee their stunning, formal, large property in Central London.  The Principals visit their home during key times throughout the year, with multiple, short visits.

The successful candidate will coordinate a team of permanent Housekeepers under the guidance of the Client Manager based in the London office, making sure the residence is maintained to the highest standards and prepared accordingly once a visit is scheduled.  When all members of the family will be visiting at the same time, the candidate will manage the permanent Housekeepers and also the additional temporary staff.

The property is formed of 6 floors, with a staff live-in accommodation area, indoor leisure, car park and garden.

Free private accommodation is provided (ensuite) at the Lower Ground; living room and kitchen shared with other staff.

A countryside Estate, belonging to the family and located in Sussex, requires liaison with the staff during the main visits of the year.  Travelling to support the staff may be requested.

The above position demands management, supervision, coordination and execution.

  • Knowledge of Middle Eastern culture a bonus
  • Excellent housekeeping / hospitality knowledge
  • Management skills - lead
  • Basic finance / accounts understanding - petty cash
  • Basic HR duties
  • Wardrobe management skills
  • Laundry management - strong knowledge of fabrics / chemicals
  • Groceries / toiletries shopping / stock control
  • Basic cooking skills - able to follow simple recipes and instructions
  • Butlering / setting up formal tables for business meetings / lunches / dinners, service knowledge (silver service experience is a bonus)
  • Flower arrangement skills
  • Family schedule / staff rota / timesheets
  • Liaising with maintenance / contractors
  • Overall wellbeing of the staff
  • Sound judgement, able to multi-task jobs

Working hours:

Monday to Friday - 9.00am-5.00pm - when family is not in residence

When family is in London flexibility is a must, the candidate will work longer hours / weekends / Bank Holidays. The additional hours will be paid, and weekends will be returned in lieu where applicable.

Annual leave is stated as 25 days + 8 bank holidays and should be taken around the key times when family visits.

Guidance, training and support will be offered

Salary - depends on experience:  £36,000
