An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly professional Head Butler to join a fully staffed private residence in the West of Ireland. This permanent position has accommodation in a private one-bedroom house provided. The successful candidate will be a polished and formal butler with extensive experience within private households, capable of delivering impeccable service standards while overseeing the smooth day-to-day running of front-of-house operations. Working closely with the principals and household staff, the Head Butler will support a team consisting of Housekeepers, 2 Chefs, and a second Butler who reports directly into the role. This is an excellent opportunity for a discreet, proactive, and hands-on professional who takes pride in providing outstanding service within a prestigious private home.

Daily duties:

• Providing one to one butler service to the principals who will need your full attention at all times
• Communicating effectively with the Principals and the house team
• Food and beverage service for the family and their guests, including breakfast, lunch and dinner 
• Maintaining / cleaning crockery, glassware, and cutlery after each meal service
• Discussing the daily menu with the Chef on duty every morning
• Feeding and looking after the house dogs
• Daily turn down service
• Keeping an eye on the dressing rooms, polishing and cleaning shoes and boots
• Check for the cleanliness of the family vehicles and clean/wash/fuel them as required
• Random spot checks around the house to ensure the house is clean, TV / IT are operating properly, no leaks, lightbulbs etc. Replenishing the bars with beverages, maintaining expiration dates
• Maintaining appropriate records, ordering supplies, following up on items that are needed at different times of the year

Weekly duties:

• Silver cutlery polishing
• Wind up and maintain the accuracy of the antique clocks
• Check and update the IT devices of the family members
• Checking the cleanliness and maintenance of other onsite properties

Other important duties:

• Driving family members if needed
• Liaising with the gardeners regarding upcoming events
• Arranging additional staff for larger dinner functions / parties
• Ordering toiletries and various items for the family, maintaining online subscriptions
• Update the wine list and conduct inventory in the wine cellar every 3 months
