Overview

A warm and welcoming family based in Wickham Bishops, Essex, is seeking an experienced, organised, and proactive Nanny/Family Manager to become an integral part of their family home.
This is a varied role combining childcare and household management, with the successful candidate responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all aspects of family life. The children are the priority, but because all three children are in school full-time from September, the role offers significant scope for someone who enjoys running the operational side of a busy family as well. The family has three children aged 9, 6, and 4.
The ideal candidate will be nurturing, engaging, and highly organised, with a genuine passion for supporting children as they grow into confident and independent young adults. Alongside childcare, the role will involve managing household administration, coordinating contractors and maintenance on a large listed property with extensive grounds, and working alongside the existing household team. This is a role offering genuine autonomy, variety, and long-term stability.
The household is fully staffed with a Housekeeper, Gardener, Grounds Staff, and Dog Walker. The successful candidate will coordinate and liaise with this team to ensure the home operates efficiently. The family also has a friendly dog.

Duties include:
Childcare Responsibilities

  • Taking responsibility for all aspects of the children's daily routines
  • Assisting with breakfast, school preparation, and morning routines
  • School drop-offs and collections, as well as managing after-school clubs and activities
  • Preparing healthy, home-cooked children's meals (including batch-cooking and meal planning) and supporting with evening routines, including bedtime
  • Ensuring children's bedrooms and spaces remain tidy and organised
  • Managing children's laundry and preparing clothing for the week ahead
  • Refreshing and organising children's wardrobes as required
  • Managing school uniforms, equipment, and school-related requirements
  • Supporting with homework and encouraging a positive attitude towards learning
  • Nurturing the children's interests and encouraging curiosity about the world around them
  • Arranging and attending medical and dental appointments when required
  • Organising school holiday activities and planning engaging experiences
  • Managing children's birthdays, including gifts and cards

Household Management Responsibilities

  • Managing general household administration and organisation
  • Arranging and overseeing household maintenance
  • Liaising with tradespeople, coordinating contractors and organising appointments when required
  • Managing vehicle servicing, MOTs, and related appointments
  • Working closely with the Housekeeper, Gardener, and wider household team
  • Managing household supplies and online food shopping
  • Assisting with laundry when required
  • Managing the family calendar and diary, including coordinating school communications, passport renewals, insurance, and other recurring administrative tasks
  • Batch-cooking and preparing adult meals, to ensure the household has healthy, home-cooked food readily available as needed
  • Supporting with guest preparation and ensuring the household runs smoothly during visits

Additional Information

  • The family offers 30 days holiday per year plus bank holidays: 20 days at dates selected by the employer, 10 days at dates selected by the employee
  • 20 evenings of babysitting per year (Monday–Thursday evenings) are included within the annual salary. Additional babysitting can be arranged and paid separately on an ad hoc basis
  • There is the option to stay overnight when babysitting; however, this is not a requirement
  • There is no requirement to travel with the family during holidays and no weekend work is expected (save for in exceptional circumstances)

Candidate Requirements

  • An experienced Nanny or Family Manager with a strong track record in both childcare and household management
  • Warm, nurturing, and genuinely passionate about child development
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple responsibilities independently
  • Comfortable taking initiative and making day-to-day decisions independently, removing operational friction from family life
  • Confident overseeing children's schedules, administration, and household organisation
  • A team player who works well alongside existing household staff and with family
  • Comfortable liaising with tradespeople and managing household suppliers
  • A confident and enthusiastic cook, comfortable with batch-cooking, meal planning, and preparing healthy family meals
  • Looking for a long-term position within a welcoming family environment
  • A candidate that appreciates family privacy and the ability to build lasting trust
