The Residence - Hertfordshire

This is a second home for a young family of 4 to use as a weekend and school holiday retreat for family and friends.

The residence is a 6-bedroom home with 4 ancillary buildings:

• A nanny flat above the garage
• A stable barn consisting of 2 offices
• A 2-bedroom guest house
• Lastly an entertainment barn with a principal’s office above

From time to time the family will use this home to entertain guests.  At full occupancy the residence should expect as many as 14 guests in total including the family.

We are looking for a Couple who would like a permanent home, and would treat this estate and care for it as if it was their own.  They will need to have energy, and be super friendly to family and staff alike.

Job Description

• Position Title: Live-in Domestic Couple
• Purpose:  A live-in Couple is required to act as Guardians for the property and ensure the residence is ready for the family’s stay
• Ensure all the family’s needs are met
• This Couple will have the responsibility of ensuring the security procedures are followed when opening and closing the home
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and maintenance

Housekeeper/Family Cook

• Guardian/key holder
• Laundry
• Cleaning of all rooms in all buildings
• Periodic deep cleaning
• Creating cleaning schedules
• Preparation of family meals
• Grocery shopping
• Larder management
• Errands
• Cleaning supplies management
• Chaperoning contractors
• Driving
• Ensure opening and closing procedure are followed
• F&B Service when required
• To help at events
• Receive and record deliveries

The housekeeping side of this role is shared with a Monday to Friday Head Housekeeper

Groundsman/Houseman

• Guardian/key holder
• Ensuring all outdoor areas are clean, safe, and manicured
• Care of cars
• Care of Boats
• Facilities ready, ie BBQ, Pizza oven, children’s toys, jacuzzi etc
• Errands
• Chaperoning contractors
• Light maintenance Including but not limited to:
•   Gutter clearing
•   Biomass boiler checks
•   Ensure waste bins are collected
•   Solar panel care
•   Possible pool maintenance
• Driving
• Security minded, ensure opening and closing procedure are followed
• Simple family cooking
• F&B Service
• To help at events
• Receive and record deliveries

Skills required: Fluent English preferred, written and spoken, good standard of cooking, both must drive, hospitality experience, service oriented, attention to detail, animal friendly. Computer literate (emails, internet, WhatsApp).

Responsible to: Estate Manager & family.

Type of position: Full-time, permanent live-in position.

Accommodation: Accommodation is a newly converted barn comprising 2 ensuite bedrooms on the ground floor, fully equipped new kitchen/diner, and lounge with TV. Underfloor heating and air conditioning.  Not suitable for children.  Pets will be considered.

Working hours: 5 days per week, 40 hours pw with flexibility.  Regular days off would be Wednesday and Thursday but may change depending on Guests staying.

Location: Nr Kings Langley, Hertfordshire

Salary: £75,000+DOE.
