The Role

An exceptional, hands-on Head Housekeeper is sought for a large, formal private residence in Mayfair. This is a key leadership role within a fully staffed household, responsible for maintaining impeccable standards while overseeing and supporting a team of 5–6 Housekeepers.

The successful candidate will lead by example, remaining actively involved in daily housekeeping duties whilst ensuring the smooth organisation, efficiency, and morale of the team. The residence is maintained to the highest standard, and the Head Housekeeper will be instrumental in upholding and elevating these expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Housekeeping

• Maintain immaculate presentation of all formal and informal areas of the residence
• Perform detailed cleaning to a five-star standard
• Care for fine furnishings, antiques, art, marble, silver, and delicate surfaces
• Oversee laundry and wardrobe care where required
• Ensure all rooms are guest-ready at all times

Team Leadership & Management

• Supervise, support, and motivate a team of 5–6 Housekeepers
• Create and manage rotas to ensure seamless coverage
• Conduct training and uphold household standards and protocols
• Monitor performance and maintain accountability
• Lead by example with a proactive, positive approach

Household Coordination

• Liaise with other household staff to ensure smooth daily operations
• Conduct regular stock checks and manage household supplies
• Implement systems and checklists to maintain consistency
• Assist with service when required (food and beverage service experience advantageous)

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior or Head Housekeeper within a formal private household or luxury five-star hotel
• Strong leadership experience managing a housekeeping team
• Meticulous attention to detail with exceptionally high standards
• Confident handling luxury interiors and specialist finishes
• Discreet, professional, and emotionally intelligent
• Flexible and adaptable within a busy, high-profile household
• Impeccable personal presentation at all times
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
