Our UHNW client is seeking an exceptional House Manager to oversee the daily operation of their prestigious private residence in Mayfair.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a highly organised, proactive, and experienced House Manager with a proven background working within demanding private households. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the residence operates seamlessly, overseeing household staff, managing day-to-day operations, and providing comprehensive support to the principals.

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to anticipate needs, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and maintain exceptional standards throughout the household. This role requires someone who is happy to be fully involved in the daily operation of the residence, leading by example and ensuring both the principals and household team are fully supported.

The House Manager will act as the central point of coordination for the household, maintaining structure, organisation, and efficiency while fostering a positive and professional working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day management and smooth operation of the residence
  • Lead, manage, motivate, and support all household staff, ensuring the highest standards are maintained at all times
  • Act as the principal point of contact between the principals, household staff, contractors, and external service providers
  • Build a trusted working relationship with the principals, anticipating requirements and ensuring all requests are handled efficiently and discreetly
  • Create and manage daily schedules, household planners, operational calendars, and staff rotas
  • Ensure excellent communication and coordination across all areas of the household
  • Monitor daily household activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to an exceptional standard
  • Maintain a strong visible presence within the household, taking a hands-on approach to management and problem-solving
  • Support and care for household staff, creating a positive, professional, and well-organised working environment
  • Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and manage household employees
  • Oversee employment contracts, staff documentation, policies, and performance management processes
  • Conduct regular staff reviews, mentoring, and development meetings
  • Manage holiday schedules, staff cover, and workforce planning
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, maintenance providers, and specialist services
  • Oversee household projects, maintenance schedules, and property-related works
  • Develop and maintain household systems, procedures, and operational standards
  • Manage household budgets, inventories, expenditure, and reporting
  • Ensure the residence remains fully prepared and maintained to the highest standards at all times
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively before they impact household operations
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion regarding all household matters
  • Provide regular updates to the principals regarding household operations and any significant matters requiring attention
  • Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as requested by the principals

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a House Manager within a UHNW private household
  • Proven experience managing household staff within a high-expectation private residence
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong experience creating systems, schedules, planners, and operational processes
  • Highly proactive with a hands-on management style
  • Natural leader with excellent people-management skills
  • Demonstrable ability to support, motivate, and develop household staff
  • Strong understanding of private household operations and service standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong administrative and reporting capabilities
  • Professional, discreet, and trustworthy
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and household requirements
  • Stable employment history within similar UHNW households is essential

Working Schedule:

  • Full-time, live-out position
  • Typically 5 days per week
  • The successful candidate may choose their regular two days off; however, flexibility will be required when the principals are in residence
  • Standard full-time hours with flexibility as required
  • A clock-in/clock-out system is in place, with additional hours being compensated
