Overview

A warm and welcoming international family based in Milan, are seeking an experienced and proactive Live-in Nanny to become a trusted and valued member of their household.

The family have six children, all attending full-time school at the British School of Milan, and are looking for a calm, organised, and reliable nanny who can support their busy family life and provide a high level of care.

Both parents work and travel occasionally, so the successful candidate must be confident stepping into a proxy parenting role, taking sole charge of the children when required. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working within a large family environment and is comfortable with a busy household routine.

The Children

The family have six children:

  • Boy, 13 years old
  • Boy, 12 years old
  • Boy, 10 years old
  • Girl, 9 years old
  • Girl, 5 years old
  • Girl, 3 years old

All children attend full-time school.
The two youngest children require the most hands-on support, including supervision, bathing, bedtime routines, and age-appropriate activities.

Schedule

This is a full-time live-in position, working 6 days per week with Sunday as the designated day off.
During term time, the role will primarily follow the children's school schedule:

  • Morning routine: Supporting the children with breakfast, preparation for school, uniforms, bags, and lunch boxes before school
  • School day: A break period will generally be available whilst the children are at school, allowing for personal time and organisation of children's areas as required
  • Afternoon & evening: Support resumes from approximately 3:30pm until 8:00pm, including school pick-ups when required, homework, activities, dinner support, bathing, and bedtime routines

The successful candidate must be flexible and comfortable adapting their schedule when required, particularly during periods of parental travel, family commitments, and international travel.

Duties Include

  • Managing the children's morning routine, including breakfast, school preparation, uniforms, bags, and lunch boxes
  • Supporting school drop-offs and pick-ups when required
  • Managing after-school routines, including activities, homework, and online tutoring sessions
  • Supporting homework up to GCSE level
  • Organising playdates, sports, tutors, and weekly activities
  • Providing attentive care for the younger children, including play, bathing, and bedtime routines
  • Preparing simple children's meals when required
  • Maintaining children's bedrooms, bathrooms, play areas, and belongings to a high standard
  • Supporting children's laundry and organisation of their personal areas
  • Providing sole-charge care for all six children during periods of parental travel
  • Travelling internationally with the family when required

Household Team

The successful candidate will work alongside an established household team, including:

  • Houseman / Handyman – weekday support and assistance with school transfers
  • Housekeepers – responsible for cleaning, laundry, and household organisation
  • Gardener / Cook – supports with cooking and school runs
  • Gardener – seasonal garden support
  • External driver – assists with school runs

Candidate Requirements

  • Extensive private household nanny experience
  • Experience caring for multiple school-aged children
  • Strong childcare experience with toddlers and younger children
  • Previous experience in a proxy parenting or sole-charge capacity
  • Native or fluent English preferred (Italian would be a strong advantage)
  • Ability to support children academically, including homework up to GCSE level
  • A calm, energetic, discreet, and organised approach
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support where needed
  • Ability to work harmoniously alongside other household staff
  • Non-smoker
  • Paediatric First Aid certification is advantageous
