Live-Out Housekeeper
Location: Farnham Common, Buckinghamshire
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week; ideally 9:00am–5:00pm, but flexible for the right candidate
Salary: £37,000–£45,000 gross per annum, depending on experience and suitability

A lovely private household based in Buckinghamshire is seeking an experienced and capable Housekeeper to join their household.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the home, ensuring it is maintained to an excellent standard and remains organised, immaculate and well presented. The role will suit a meticulous and hands-on Housekeeper who takes pride in their work and is confident caring for delicate garments, specialist surfaces and valuable household items.

Cooking experience is a bonus but is not essential. However, the successful candidate must hold a Food Safety qualification and be comfortable with basic food preparation, including safely heating frozen and refrigerated meals.

The family are expecting a baby in November. No childcare is required as part of the role, although the successful candidate should be comfortable working around children. A willingness to occasionally assist with the baby or provide an extra pair of hands when needed would be considered a significant advantage but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Thorough cleaning and upkeep of the household to a high standard
• Laundry, including washing, folding and putting clothes away
• Ironing and careful care of delicate garments
• Experience handling wool, cashmere, baby clothing and other delicate fabrics
• Caring for marble flooring and other delicate or specialist surfaces
• Delicate cleaning and care of household items, including a grand piano and silver
• Maintaining a well-organised and tidy household
• Ensuring cleaning products and equipment are used appropriately and safely
• Basic food preparation and safely heating frozen and refrigerated meals
• Assisting with cooking where skills allow
• Maintaining high standards of presentation throughout the home
• Other general housekeeping duties as required by the household

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a private housekeeper or in a similar high-standard household
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a home to an excellent standard
• Confident handling delicate fabrics, surfaces and household items
• Good laundry and ironing skills
• Well organised, reliable and discreet
• Able to work independently and manage daily housekeeping tasks efficiently
• Food Safety qualification is essential if coking for the household
• Comfortable with basic food preparation and safely heating prepared meals
• Cooking experience would be advantageous but is not essential
• A professional, flexible and hands-on approach
• Excellent understanding of household care and organisation
